SisterReach marked our 13th year in October, and as we enter this new fiscal year, we are standing on the threshold of profound change. This 13th year represents not just a celebration of our achievements but a bold step forward into a future of transformation, renewal, and deeper connections with the communities we serve locally, regionally and nationally.
Reflecting on the Journey
From the very beginning, SisterReach has been a catalyst for change, advocating for reproductive and sexual justice while centering the voices of Black women, women and teens of color, LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive individuals. Over the years, our work has challenged systemic injustices, shifted and expanded social and cultural understandings, ignited and inspired action. Whether through local initiatives like Pearl’s Pantry, or national initiatives like the Faith, Advocacy & Religion Symposium, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to equity, justice, and advocating for abundance so that all we serve can enjoy a quality of life that is sustainable.
Introducing Vision 2025
Year 13 is a time of strategic alignment and reimagined possibilities. Vision 2025 will guide our efforts to broaden our impact and deepen our engagement with the people and communities we serve. Here are the key pillars of our vision:
1. Expanded Programming to Uplift and Empower This year, we are enhancing our existing programs while introducing new ones to address the evolving needs of our communities. Initiatives like YouMeHIV will provide platforms for education, dialogue, and advocacy, ensuring no one feels left behind. Last year, we worked with local stakeholders to envision our newest program, The SisterReach Village. We ended the year in acquisition negotiations to purchase our first property which will serve as our new headquarters and site for our transitional housing program. This program has been 10 years in the making and we are excited for such an expansive future.
2. Strengthening Local Connections Through the Know Your Sister campaign, we are renewing our commitment to the Memphis community. By fostering partnerships and amplifying local voices, we aim to ensure every individual knows how to access the resources and support they deserve while forwarding our long-term goal of making SisterReach a houshold name that out community depends on.
3. Advocacy at the Forefront Vision 2025 places a renewed emphasis on advocacy, focusing on policies that address health equity and reproductive justice. By sharing the lived experiences of those most affected, we seek to influence meaningful policy changes that pave the way for systemic transformation. For the last eight years we have organized and educated Black residents in TN on how to speak with legislators and let their own concerns be heard. Stay tuned for Black Folks Day on the Hill 2025. In this political climate where democracy is being threatened, we are more committed than ever before to advocate for ourselves, our families, and communities.
